Winter 2015/2016 Brandon Bay

Winter 2016 Pictures and Movie. This is a brief overview of my Winter 2016, Mainly just pictures from time on the water, I am hoping to get back to posting blogs more regularly. It has been a warm wet and windy winter which sounds great but being in such a exposed place when its windy it really gets very very windy, with the bay getting all the Atlantic winter swells it often a case of trying to find the place with the least swell and wind!.  Most of Brandon bay is beach breaks which after mast high become too expensive to sail ! For proper big waves we need to get on to the reefs which only work in northly winds which this winter North winds just did not happen. Autumn 2015 In Brandon Bay

Hello I apologise for not updating this blog recently as I have been doing a lot of school work and it wasn't helped by the fact this is my 3rd attempt due to problems with the blog not saving but hopefully this can fill you guys in on what i have been doing.   Also if you would like more regular updates you can like my new Facebook page  www.facebook.com/finnmellon93/   Thank you very much and enjoy. September / Most of October September and the majority of October was windless ! Both months without any rain, so it was like the summer we never had. With the lack of normal prevailing South Westerlies we had mainly either complete claim or Easterlies so that meant we got a lot of sick surf, Day after day of surfing ! Fun Surf before school ;) Successful road tripping ! that wave is bigger than you think ;) sadly Gopro footage really takes the size out of this big wave  Irish Champions Pretty stoked to be this ...

Tenerife 2015

This summer I spent 3 weeks training in El Medano, Tenerife. Now that I have retuned I finally have some time to do some typing. I sailed 2 to 3 times everyday for 3 weeks in  a good mix of sailing from very marginal  5.0 flat to hanging on to my 4.0 wishing I had brought my 3.3 ! Big thanks to Julian Salmonn for letting me stay with him for the first week. Really good to have a local contact and ripper as a friend. This is all my packing that I hauled to Tenerife by myself.  New sails Luckly for me these beauties arrived just before I packed my bags. I got a 4.2, 4.7 and a 5.0 and I must say I love them ! They are fantastic to sail, They feel so light and responsive, Plus they are nice and bright !! I am really looking forward to trying them out with the new 3 batten option while "proper 'wave sailing at home. Big thanks to Jeremy at Jamie Knox for getting them to me before I left. Week 1 My first week in Tenerife was epic ! On my first day I arrived...
