September weather has been unreal with  good surf most days in sunshine and summer suits in Brandon Bay. Still very little sailing other than one cross off day at Gowlane in 3ft surf. The outlook is looking good  for sailing this week at last. 4.5m swell at 16seconds and 20 knots of wind is the stuff of dreams and broken kit at Gowlane for Thursday. Have to work at the weekend but will still will get out on on any windy day. Loads  of people round as Jem Hall and Guy Cribb have courses on. It such a big bay lots of sails on the water is not a problem, the only one is parking which is where my old van comes in.  It is only worth a few euro but as it 4X4 it can drive on the beach which is far better than a cool set of alloys ! Great to get some really good surf in Brandon bay this week 2.5m northwest swell at 17 seconds and no wind + sunshine does not get much better. Two surfs a day.  Started off with some small glassy days and got better and better. The coming weekend is much the same forecast. Can not wait :)

Well nearly a month since my last post and from a windsurfing point of view it been very poor here. We got a couple of days soon after getting back from Tenerife in logo cross off at Killcummin which were great. Then a bit of surfing here and a week in Brittany, France, to practice my French and Surfing with my friend Tim who was here in June. Tim is a past French Volcom Grom surf winner. France was a great experience, Its a cool place with cool people ! We surfed everyday of the week This is one of the Spots we Surfed Once I got back from France I got a couple more days sailing in Brandon Bay in 4.2 weather  and a couple of days of big surfing on lower Mossie"s. Had to laugh at dad taking off on a 4 times overhead wave on his paddle board. He didn't make it to the bottom ! We then a long time without wind or surf so i decided it was time to bust out the Longboard. Back to school and the weather decides to finally turn on with some amazing surf and ...

My Second week in Tenerife  During my second week in Tenerife the PWA world tour came to town, which was great because it meant sailing and meeting all  the pro's ! I love the way in windsurfing that everyone is so down to earth. When the current world champ ask's if you will go for a sail with him you know its a friendly sport !  I was impressed by what the top guys could do in pretty poor conditions (by Brandon Bay standards ;-)     ) plus it is also much different to see it in person than to watch them in videos. There was also a junior event that i was competing in. Was pretty cool to be representing Ireland. My dad also came out for the event so I had a caddy haha ! For the beginning of the event there was a opening ceremony held in the town of El Medano, we had to walk through the whole town with the flag of our nationality where we ended up on stage in the town square A Panorama photo i took from the Stage The eve...

Irelands has been flat and windless for to long so pleased to be getting away.  Off to El Medano to hopefully get some Jumping practice . Staying with uk rippers Aleksy Gayda,  Ben Page,and Jony Price  My journey to Tenerife started with me having to wake up at 1:30 am ! Then driving to cork airport where I left Dad and began to board with my 50kg of kit ! Nothing like an easy trip for your first time flying alone ! ;-) Everything went pretty easy, arrived to a windless Tenerife. View from our place The next day showed more signs of wind, eventually got onto the water for a high tide session . Cabezo. Lots of rocks around which is a different from home . It was pretty light, went on 4.7 with 82l board, not windy enough to plane, not much of a wave either but was amazing to  sail in warm water again!  Also cool to sail with all the Top PWA Sailors. Went again for second session at low tide. This time even more rocks and less water on the waves. ...

In general 2014 has been a rather poor year for windsurfing and surfing so far. With silly winds and huge swells making the bay un-sailable or any good for surfing. The big swells and super high tides made  for lots of damage with friends houses  having the sea through the door.  After the winter there been a lack of wind or swell. This is a screenshot of one of the many extreme days we had during winter 2014 But we have had a few brilliant sessions. We had our first windsurfing session of the year on the first day of the year, as we sailed rather big and light Gowlane.
