Winter Sessions

Since I have come back from South Africa we have had quite a bit of Good Windsurfing and lots of very good surf ! These are pictures from some of the sessions we have had since SA. The first windsurfing session Dad and I had at home after our holiday was an epic windsurf at Gowlane, Pretty windy 4,2 Cross off ! The waves were epic ! Small swell with quite a lot of Seconds on the period produced mast high waves, Sadly we didn't take many photos as we were enjoying ourselves too much ! But here are some of the few we have Niall Launching a big Arial   These pictures are of me surfing, This was one of the many days this winter of massive swells, So i decided to go and find some more sheltered waves, I went exploring looking for something that was worthy surfing, And i was luckily enough to find this new wave and surf it for the first time ! It was a heavy beach brake all to my self mwhah ;) I must Praise my new Wetsuit ! I got myself a Matuse 5/4 hooded winter ...

South Africa

I am just recently back from my trip to South Africa ! Just before christmas Mom, Dad and myself decided to book a windsurfing/surf trip away for 3 weeks to Cape Town South Africa. As we were driving to the Airport in Shannon it began to snow ! So we were all pretty happy to be leaving the cold ! When we arrived to cape town after 13 hours flying and we were greeted by 35 degrees and lots of sun which was a lot more pleasant than the freezing cold ! Cape Town Going to Cape Town we didn't except there to be much diving involved, but we were wrong ! In-fact Our trip involved lots of driving ! On our first day we drove all the way to Cape Point, which was about a 2 hour drive away, Probably would of been quicker if we hadn't gotten lost !! Once we got there we went windsurfing, We didn't have epic conditions but the fact it wasn't 4 degrees and raining was pretty epic ! Elands Bay Then our next session was at Elands, which is about 200 miles away from Cape t...

November To Mid December In Brandon Bay

Opp's it been a while. We have been in the water lots, but just not with the camera's so not been blogging here. November.  Lovely weather and amazing surf. Had lots of great surf sessions. Niall and I surfed big Mossies lots. We had a few sessions which were 4 times over head. Fun ! thankfully I have a new semi gun 6,6 (thanks Rob at Kerry Sale company for the board :) ). Also in November I had a friend of mine Colm Doyle come and stay with me for a week. We got a full week of double sessions in perfect weather. It was great fun. In early December we got a MASSIVE swell, It was something ridiculous like 13 meters at 21 seconds which means the special place works  worked ! For this place to work it has to be massive ! And it produces very hollow and very fast waves ! It was epic ! I had two days there and got plenty of epic barrel's ! I hope for it to work again in 2015 ! :D Here are some pictures of the last two months . It doesn't look very big, but d...

Cornwall BWA

Had this event on my radar for a while. I had been trying to get Finn to Tiree but had not been able to get him there. By doing this last event of the season he would be in the running for the english Youth champion, all he had to do was win.  For me hopefully some fun sailing.  Forecast looked good on Wednesday night so got a ticket for the boat from Rosslare to Pembroke. A eye watering €320.  I somehow miss read the ferry time thinking it was 1am rather than 9.45pm which made for a rushed Thursday. Worked till 1pm with Finn packing and hit the road at 3 with a bit of sleep on the road and boat rocked up at Gwithian around 11 to 19c 1ft cross off 5.0 weather. Not bad for the end of October. We both had a fun disco sail. ( big moves tiny surf !). Quick sleep on the M5 somewhere in Devon  Great to see lots of friends, partially the Pidden family who  stay in Brandon Bay every summer.  Finn Pulled up at the car park Saturday to still sm...
